Scheduling Dashboard (BETA)
Version 5.6 includes a new tool specifically designed to improve scheduling workflows. The new Scheduling Dashboard, available from the Scheduling Runs interface, consolidates and simplifies the tasks commonly performed during the scheduling process. In addition, it provides district staff with graphical analyses of pre- and post-run scheduling data, giving them the information that they need to optimize the results.
The sectioner and builder console allows master schedulers to easily manage the configuration options for each run. Users can review the selections for historical runs to identify the options that result in the best outcomes for their specific schedule. In addition, the dashboard provides a pre-run checklist to ensure that districts receive the best possible results. Warnings for outstanding or incomplete tasks, such as course request approvals, discrepancies between course requests and available seats, missing scheduling information, and more, allow staff to review the data and make the necessary adjustments prior to generating a run. Finally, the dashboard provides detailed post-run analysis that includes sorting, filtering, search, and drill down capabilities, giving staff the information that they need to refine the master schedule.
With the release of version 5.6, a BETA version of this new feature will be made available to all eSD users. Based on end user feedback, additional enhancements will be incorporated into the Scheduling Dashboard in preparation for the upcoming scheduling season.
eSD Mobile Enhancements
Version 5.6 includes a number of enhancements to the eSD Mobile app based on feedback from our pilot program members. The Attendance Summary view, available from the corresponding tab within eSD Mobile, displays tallies of student attendance statuses by day and period for the selected interval. A new filter allows users to limit results to specific attendance statuses. Staff with the appropriate permissions can easily create new discipline referrals directly from their mobile device, and submit information related to the location, date, time, and details of the incident. The new User Maintenance page, available from the Other tab, allows staff with the appropriate permissions to lock and unlock user accounts within the corresponding building.
Teacher Connect Enhancements
The release includes a variety of enhancements to the Teacher Connect interface based on district feedback. Teachers can now send emails to individuals or groups from the Student Contact Report. The new check box field allows users to select multiple student and parent email recipients when launching the compose email window. The new Auto Calculate assignment option allows teachers to automatically calculate the overall assignment score based on the scores entered for each associated standard. The Save & Copy option, available from the Assignment Quick Entry window, allows teachers to copy assignments to multiple sections during a single transaction. Teachers can modify the assignment due date for each section during the selection process, and the associated category will be copied to the target section if it does not already exist. Teachers can easily exclude individual or multiple students from assignments using the new Exclude tool. Excluded students will automatically receive a grade of “EX” within the Gradebook. Finally, category defaults have been incorporated into the Settings page within the Teacher Connect Gradebook, allowing staff to define the default category options for all classes.
